Jaryn has a very warm and collaborative approach to therapy. She often incorporates creativity, Mindfulness, humor, and skill-building exercises and techniques into her sessions, to help clients achieve more growth and greater steps toward healing. She believes” You are not your problems. You are not your medical diagnosis. You are simply, YOU!”. Jaryn’s passion is working with those coping with chronic illness and assisting women and adolescent girls in enhancing their capacity for self-love, self- compassion, self-acceptance and improving overall self- esteem, while walking alongside her clients and guiding them on their journey of healing from past trauma. Jaryn often helps clients identify personal values and enhance their strengths, and her hope is that each client can walk away from their sessions with more tools and hope than what they arrived with.
Jaryn earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Life Education, with a Minor in Child Development from California State University, Long Beach, and her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. Jaryn has over 9 years of experience providing counseling and/or mentorship to individuals, youth and families within the community and specializes in treating self-esteem issues, adjusting to chronic pain/illness, women’s issues, and body image/disordered eating concerns. Jaryn is trained in EMDR, certified as an Expressive Arts Practitioner, and has completed training in Mindful Eating (e.g. Mindfulness-Based- Eating Awareness training: MB-EAT and Eat for Life). Jaryn is certified in the Trauma Conscious Yoga Method (TCYM) and has completed training and earned her 200 CYT / Yahweh Yoga Instructor, in hopes to provide more holistic treatment of trauma through Yoga/body-based approaches and art. Additionally, Jaryn is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Integrative and Functional Nutrition with a desire to utilize nutrition and supplementation knowledge to help clients address and treat mental health symptoms through dietary and lifestyle adjustments.
Jaryn has a natural gift for relating to others and making her clients feel at ease. She is passionate about her work with the individuals she serves, and looks forward to serving you at Expressions Counseling Center.
